Dream Summer Outfits - Day & Night!

If money was no object right this moment what would your dream summer outfits be?! I randomly asked myself this question earlier as I was trawling eBay for yet more bargains! If I had all the money in the world what would I buy for this July heatwave? Take a look:

Daytime Dream OOTD:

Taking style inspo from Blake Lively and Kourtney Kardashian I've whacked together this beautifully modest yet hugely expensive outfit! Simple yet effective! These gladiator sandals are the actual ones you can see Kourtney wearing in all of her recent snaps!

Evening Dream OOTD:

I can just imagine being at some swanky do, sipping champagne and mingling with the celebs in this get-up! It's classy with a touch of attitude - and who can really resist Loubs?? My style inspo for this came from Rihanna, Victoria Beckham and Beyoncé - of course!

That was much more fun than I thought it would be - have you ever been on the Christian Louboutin and Moschino websites? GO NOW!

What are your dream wardrobes?!

Calvin Klein Lipstick - #24 'Peony'

My quest to wear bolder lip shades begins with Calvin Klein #24! A wonderfully cheap eBay bargain at £1.49 (!) I thought this would be a great place to start...

Takes a couple of swipes of the lips to get a decent coverage but once it's on the colour is a perfect balance between not too bright and not too light.
I was hoping that opting for Calvin Klein would mean that it would last longer than those I could get for the same low price in the shops - probably Natural Collection or Collection 2000.
Unfortunately, I still got that annoying blotchy matte effect that everyone hates after about 30-40 minutes of wear! Not ideal!
But it does the job and has given me newfound confidence to go find some more colours and try some new lipsticks which is always fun and totally necessary!
;-)

Let's see who else is rockin' the kinky pink lip right now and get a quick fix of inspo...

Jessica Biel at the Dior Cruise Fashion Show on 1st June - [Daily Mail]
Jessica Alba at the 2013 Producers Guild Awards - [Hello!]
Tulisa at the NTAs this year - [Daily Mail]
Leigh-Ann Pinnock at last year's Jingle Bell Ball - [Capital FM]

What are the hottest colours right now? And who's the best brand for sustainable lippy??
Let an amateur know - it's payday Friday!

London Fashion Week - "Front Row Favourites"

Casually still obsessing over the Fashion Weeks, I was reading the online ed of Vogue to find their "Front Row Favourites" feature! It got me thinking what my fave celeb spots were from the Fashion Weeks and where I could get there show-stoppin' style...

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley attending the Burberry Prorsum Show at London Fashion Week,
Rachel Zoe at her own New York Fashion Week Show,
&
Jourdan Dunn at the London Topshop Show
were my top 3 coolest looks.

It was so hard to chose bearing in mind Rita Ora sported that gorgeous 90s bob at the Burberry Prorsum Show and Miley Cyrus rocked that beautiful berry jumpsuit.

Now for the fun stuff; let's convert Rosie, Rachel and Jourdan's style to wearable pieces from the British high-street and online stores -

Rosie:

Fuschia Blazer & Trousers - ZARA
Black Strappies - ALEXANDER MCQUEEN
Black Clutch - INTERNACIONALE

Rachel:

Black Velvet Trousers - PETER HAHN
Black Silk Blouse - PETER HAHN
Faux Feather Fur Gilet - GODDIVA
Classic Rachel Zoe Black Platform Boots - CHOCKERS
Statement Necklace - ACCESSORIZE

Jourdan:

Paisley Top - URBAN OUTFITTERS
Camel Leggings - AMERICAN APPAREL
Blue Eye Colour - BARRY M

What do you think? I love the simplicity of Rosie's boardroom to red carpet look but at the same time can't get enough of Rachel's busy ensemble. Velvet trousers are difficult to pull off so they may be worth styling before buying!
Obviously it's Jourdan's colour-pop eyes that steal the show from her outfit but I think this navy paisley would work so well with the camel leggings and Barry M eyeshadow!

Oscars Label Lust vs High Street Copies

The Oscars are more about who is wearing what than who is winning what. Every year the world's biggest stars in the industry show up in show-stopping suits and gowns reminding everyone how deliciously rich and beautiful they are.

From funny lass Leslie Mann to the stunningly petite Salma Hayek, my top 9 ladies put everyone else to shame whilst celebrating last night's awards bash:

Anne Hathaway - Performin' Les Mis in Prada
Leslie Mann - Attendin' the Vanity Fair 'do in a stunning orange Andrew Gn gown
Diane Kruger - Rockin' a Giambattista Valli cape-back dress (which she teamed with Laboutins)
Naomi Watts - Sparklin' in head-to-toe Emilio Pucci sequins
Natalie Portman - Takin' things very seriously in her Dior gown
Emily Mortimer - Showin' off her enviable figure in a fitted midnight blue dress
Britney Spears - Pullin' out all the stops with a floor length sequinned number and a new brunette 'cut
Reese Witherspoon - Pullin' in her tiny waist in a Louis Vuitton gown chosen by her daughter
Salma Hayek - Winnin' hands down the award for most delicious lady in her Alexander McQueen halter neck dress

There's no need for us to be jealous, though! I've searched the inter-webs for wearable, high-street versions of these ceremony stunners, and seeing as most of us aren't being invited to such prestigious events such as the Oscars, I've decided to shop for visits to our local boozers, clubs and house parties!

1) Get Anne's tiered ruffle look with the Tula Dress at Monsoon (£89) - It comes in Cobalt Blue, Nude & Green
2) Structured-shoulder dresses are hard to come by! This gorgeous little red number is £27 from Missguided
3) Get your cape on this season! It's much easier for us to wear a cape as outerwear because we are not Diane Kruger. I chose this W-toky Jacket by Diesel at House of Fraser - £125
4) One shoulder sequins as seen on Naomi Watts... and online at Boohoo.com for £20! BARGAIN!!!
5) It's not quite Dior but it is floor-length monochrome - this Paprika Maxi Dress is £32 from ASOS
6) Hybrid Fashion have a huge range of dresses with every neckline and colour you could possibly need for a chic entrance like Emily's at the Vanity Fair Oscars After Party
7) It's quite hard to party in a dress as long as Britney's - so I'd go for the French Connection Midnight Sequin Dress so you have room to throw some shapes!
8) Nothing says 'HERE I AM!' than a royal blue, structured, strapless panel dress! The one at Chiara Fashion is only £20
9) This Paprika Bodycon Dress at Very is as close as we are going to get to becoming as perfect as Ms. Hayek herself. At £36, you can't go wrong trying, can you!?

January's Lust List

For most people it is the week before payday...for me it is the fortnight before payday. Either way I'm usually skint by now (I have a habit of leaving too much month at the end of my money) and have a long list of items that I'm lusting after! Every month I will share my 'Lust List'.

Being skint genuinely sucks. Especially so when essential household appliances blow up. Just like my microwave did yesterday. I can assure you, warming soup up on the hob is not only tedious, it is also extremely dangerous...I would show you my burn mark but it seems it is so small the camera lens can't focus on it...ANYWAY my first Lust Item is a state-of-the-art, big-shazam microwave!

Ok, so it's NOT state-of-the-art or the big shazam at all. But it is pink. And works! So it is my number 5 Lust Item of January! ( Available at Pink Princess for £70 )

Next on the list are new wellies! All his ice and all of this snow have done one thing for me - made me realise that my wellies are old, uncomfortable and are now a weird shade of faded pink. All-in-all they are gross and I need a new pair like these:

Dolce & Gabbana Leopard Print Wellies... They are just the dream aren't they?! ( Available at Far Fetch for £137.67 )

Number 3 on January's Lust List is actually a collection. A sunny little collection of bits I want and quite possibly NEED in my life to remind me of my Caribbean holiday...in Spetember (it's devastating everytime I remind myself how far away it is!) This collection comprises of handmade jewellery and swim items that have ridiculous price tags:

The triple strand parrot necklace is available at DanFrank Jewellery for £15 (barg!), the bikini, towel and case are from Agent Provocateur (£245, £135 and £895).

Number 2 is to satisfy my Kardashian Kraving. Khloe & Kim both announced via social networking yesterday that new Kardashian Kollection items were being launched in Dotty P's at the end of Feb (watch out for every item to be on next month's Lust List!) but it was Kourtney's revelation that got me excited..."Kardashian Khaos kandles!" - @KourtneyKardash

'How Expensive can candles be?' you may think...well let me tell you they are $40 EACH! Plus if you're outside of the US expect to pay huge shipping fees too! ( Available at Kardashian Khaos )

Last but not least on January's Lust List, I've gone extremely doo-lally for Dave...and wish to get my hands on everything Mr Attenborough has ever released (please note this is NOT a euphanism). The only man of his age who can keep me entertained AND learning is a marvel in himself. After watching his Africa & Galapagos series on series link this month and being blown away by the footage.. I want more! See David Attenborough on Amazon to buy his work.

What's in your Lust List this month?

Brazen Brollies

Tis the season to... get wet! Forget about dreaming for a white Christmas, what we really wanted this Holiday Season was for the rain to stop!

However hard we begged the rain to stop falling, it still remains an issue. Popping to the bank, running for a loaf of bread, taking the dog for a walk; it's all so much harder to handle in this incessant drizzle!

What makes me even more upset is the fact that I don't even own an umbrella. Until now...
Casually trapsing through my Twitter feed earlier today I realised how stunning an umbrella can be.
'Love Umbrellas' ( @LoveUmbrellasKlair ) have changed the way I see an umbrella; they used to just be an awkward tool that had to be used to keep your freshly ironed hair straight an your perfectly polished face perfect. Now, they are playful accessories available in a rainbow of colours and girly shapes:

Seeing these beauties I wondered what other hair-saving designs can be found online? Trust me, there is no excuse for any of us to have the standard black rain-tool with the brollies I found!

Lisbeth Dahl umbrellas do girly vintage glamour perfectly and one of these would be the perfect addition to a posh frock on a night out. These ones are available from Mollie & Fred from £16.99:

Another brilliant brolly guru is Lulu Guinness; taking the LBD to umbrella form giving each one an elegant twist. These are my top Lulu picks available on her website:

Sumptuous Soaks

Winter is a somewhat stressful season. One's main priority is to stay warm and dry, which isn't always easy. I don't know about you but at the end of the day all I want to do is light some scented candles, turn out the lights and lay in a hot bubbly bath until I look like a saturated prune.

A mediocre soak in the tub isn't the way I like my bath times to go. There can't be any rush, there can't be the possibility of someone disturbing you and there almost certainly must be either a) a fantastic book at hand; b) a soundtrack provided by a specifially chosen playlist of my choice or c) this week's More! magazine ready to read cover to cover.

Before all of the above is put into place you need to have all of the essential ingredients needed for such a delicious and stress-free soak:

1) Bath Gel/Oil/Creme
December is such a wonderful time to shop for bath stuff as not only do they make an easy and thought-free gift for that acquaintance of yours, it also makes an affordable Christmas treat for yourself too! Having seen Le Maison de Senteurs advertised in Marie Claire this month I fell in love with the collection without even having my hands on it. The bath stuff on offer at Marks & Spencer looks like bottled luxury and even I can shell out £7.50 for such wonders.
Jo Malone Bath Oils (available at John Lewis) are also a treat for your over-worked body. Red Roses, Orange Blossom and White Jasmine & Mint are among the scents on my wishlist. I hope Santa is reading this...
So we have luxury on a budget at Marks & Spencer and we are treating outselves at John Lewis but what if we wanted to lust after the big name labels just as we would when deciding on a new pair of shoes? Well, Givenchy Perfuming Bath Gel, Fendi Bath Gel, Prada Candy Bath Gel and Versace Vanitas Bath Gel can all be found at Harrods, of course, and all for under £30 a bottle. How good have you been this year?

2) Scented Candles
A bath is not a bath without the anti-stress atmosphere. The flickering of a few strategically placed candles can do wonders for the soul.
Busy Bee Candles are criminally under-priced and offer some delicious scents at this time of year. Cinnamon Buns, Hollyberry, Mistletoe & Mulberry can all be found in the Busy Bee Christmas Selection for only £1.25 each! That is definitely bath-time on a budget and leaves much more in the kitty for your Prada Bath Gel!!!
To treat yourself, The Melt Co. Scented Candle Collections are to die for. The Angel Collection, The Rich Cream Collection and The Blush Collection are by far my favourites. You could go mad shopping here.
Then again, if you've got the designer Bath Gel why not go all out and have just-as-designer candles? The White Company are the perfect choice to go on a spending splurge, especially if you opt for a couple of the Noir Large 3-Wick Candles which are £70 each!

3) After-Bath Delights
So after your lush bath, you have to get out and dry. What a waste of time if you have to get out and dry yourself with your boring, everyday towels? The Dunelm Mill Hotel Collection Towels will be the perfect accessory to see you out of the bath in style and comfort, and are only £12.99!
Alternatively, treat yourself with The White Company's Hydrocotton Towels or go designer with Ralph Lauren Home Bath Towels available from Selfridges.

Once your dry you need to slip into some super comfy, super warm and super trendy PJs. See my blog on Kourtney Kardashian's pyjama style to get some nightware inspiration!

Then one last final touch to this perfect evening is the robe. Treat yourself to a Dunelm Mill 100% Egyptian Cotton Robe to get that hotel-fresh feeling or continue the designer feel by heading back to Harrods for gorgeous robes from Juicy Couture, Elle Macpherson Intimates and Stella McCartney.

Happy Bubbles!
