They Say Never Work With Children...

It's not been an overly great day - but no surprises I'm still happy as ever!

Having securing a part time job almost straight away after leaving my last job I'm still finding other ways to grab small amounts of cash doing this and that.

Market research and paid school runs are saving the day! Today I was assigned to assist a driver on a County school run.

They say never work with children - and today I almost found out why:

"Why did you leave your job with nowhere else to go?!"

How can an eleven-year-old throw me off like this? Shake my confidence just like that?! The innocence to his question rocked me - Why on Earth did I do that?? Quick, think fast...

"Because I'm on a treasure hunt to find a much better job - one that makes me really happy!" My replied sucked and I knew it.

"But what do you do now?"

"I work at Starbucks."

"Do you earn enough?"

How does this child know? Glaring at his regular driver - who I also know from my previous job - I replied, "Yes actually, just enough."

How very awkward. This eleven-year-old child knows damn straight that I don't earn enough and continued to interrogate me until he got down to the truth.

Turning to face this charming, inquisitive little boy I looked him in the eye and said, "When you grow up make sure you chose a job or a career that makes you very happy and one that makes you excited when you get up in the morning because otherwise you won't do it properly. If you don't end up doing it properly you end up sad and letting people down and no-one wants to feel like that do they? Make sure you grow up to be exactly what you want to be."

Suddenly satisfied, the nine-year-old boy smiled and promised, "I will remember."

And just like that the subject was changed and we all went about our business. Not only did I give some worldly advice to a child (which I'm sure I've never done before) I also re-convinced myself that I did the right thing and to give up now would be criminal.

Moral of the story:
Do it for the people who want to see you fail

When Life Gives You Lemons...

MAKE LEMONADE!

My blog may not be the fanciest, or the most technically designed, but it's where I've shared my favourite products, my opinions about my favourite (or not so favourite) celebrities and where I've also shared some of my dreams and aspirations.

I haven't blogged in such a long time and I'm beginning to miss it. Sharing is caring - and as much as I have no idea who I'm sharing my thoughts with I've decided to re-take the plunge and get back into it.

I'm a little nervous as my priorities have changed - I still fangirl over celebrities, squeal over a brand new miracle product and still fall head over heels in love with new music. Most of all - I still dream big.

I recently left a well-paid, comfortable, full-time job to conquer new beginnings. I was terrified as I didn't know which plan to explore first!

That's what my Mum always says but is it really?! My one big dream - the one that would satisfy my soul to no end - is the one where I move to San Francisco and have an almighty view of the Golden Gate Bridge. I would wake up every morning to a foggy view of the Bay and eat Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner down at Fisherman's Wharf. One day, that still might come true - but it isn't easy for a little Diabetic dreamer to move to a country that doesn't have Healthcare. Trust me though, the research has begun.

If anyone has any knowledge or experience in moving abroad PLEASE GET IN TOUCH. This has to happen one day - even just for a year or two.

Focussing back to the here and now I had better start earning some cash to bay those delightful bills of mine and, of course, start saving for my exciting new future plans.

I now work part-time at Starbucks where my feet get battered and I come home soaked in coffee spills - but loving it all the same. Learning something new feeds the brain and adds quality to quantity - and I'm finally back working face-to-face with customers (I sort-of missed conversation and friendly banter with a new person every minute when stuck inside an office 24/7).

WHEN THE STUDENT IS READY, THE MASTER APPEARS
- A Buddhist proverb

I have appointments with recruitment agencies and interviews coming in so who knows where I'll settle - as long as I can save for my dreams I will do anything!

I'll keep you posted...

What Makes You Happy?

Why do so many people dislike this time of year?! Yes, it gets darker earlier and yesss I am aware it is getting chillier as the weeks go by...however are you all not excited for the snuggles to come?! Other than the fact I can now legally eat Jaffa Cakes without having a nervous break down about the next crop top trend, I can now enjoy all the other stuff Autumn has to offer!

For all you miserable bast***s out there just ask yourself - What makes you happy this time of year? May I lend some suggestions?

1) The White Company had a wonderfully seasonal collage on their Facebook page last night with photographs that made you feel all warm and cosy inside:

The White Company are currently holding a 'Simple Pleasures' competition on Pinterest - check out their Facebook page for more deets! (Link above^) YAY for 'Simple Pleasures'.

2) T'is the seasonal for warm, snuggly, steamy bath-times and shower-times! I'm stocked up and ready to roll:

Bath essentials you just have to invest in are:

3) Winter foods that provide nutrition, heat and a good little layer of seasonal podge! Tonight my dear mother fed her chicks a slow cooked sausage casserole that has been filling the house with the scents of winter dinners all day!

(Winter Recipes on Mother Earth Living)

Ok I've managed to think up 3 things on the spot that make me happy this time of yea! There is literally no need to be so grumbly! ;-)

What are your favourite things about fall?

- She is the only female at cup level now working with Michael Waltrip Racing
- She ran her first mile at the age of 24 (older than me, ahem) and is now buff-sexy!
- She inspired herself to get fit whilst working in Iraq by discovering CrossFit.
- She is now a CrossFit hero recognised worldwide.

- Her work ethic, strength and commitment is hugely respectable.
- She's what role models should be made of.

After watching her appearance on The Kris Jenner Show I immediately did a strenuous 45 minute workout - NO LIE! Everything about her inspires me and I hope it does you, too!

See her 'Kris' appearance here (SO HOT! It involves her teaching Kris Jenner and Ryan Seacrest how to change a race car tyre!) :-  http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=N3-pFB8bl9M

Holiday Bloggin'! - Motivation Monday

Good evening! This week I am bloggin' all the way from Christchurch, Dorset, where I am currently sleeping off a terrible case of 'burnout' that occured in the last two weeks!

Other than spending my days doing some of my FAVE Dorset-y things to do - like visiting the New Forest and boat-watching in Poole - I am also using this time as some sort of detox vacay.

Staying with the grandparents is always a little bit like rehab - it's quiet, technology is at it's very basic and having a signal is a no-go, let alone the lack of sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll - but this time I'm taking it ridiculously seriously. For those of you that know me, going out sans make-up is near enough IMPOSSIBLE for me, however, today I went shopping and pottering with Grandad totes bare-faced! PROUD! Not only am I letting my skin breathe this week, I'm also investing in the Vitamin D spray you can get from Holland & Barratt - if the sun ain't guna shine on me then I'll spray it's goodness straight into my gob instead! £7 for 100 sprays and you only need one spray a day! Bargain skincare and healthiness in a tiny bottle.

What else have I discovered here?! Oh...squats feel harder to do when you're supposed to be holiday! Dragging myself from the unbelievably comfy recliner every evening takes dedication - I hope Ibiza appreciates the effort in which I am making. Anyway, I re-tweeted this on Twitter and love it so much - KEEP GOING:

I always have such random playlist fancies when I'm away - I've been obsessed with the mainstream ones like Blurred Lines (Robin Thicke, Pharrell & T.I), Antenna (Fuse ODG) & Beautiful (Mariah & Miguel) BUT thanks to over-listening to the new Kisstory radio station I've been re-visiting some old tunes that are total CLASSICS: Skinny (Lo Rider), No More [Baby I'ma Do Right] (3LW), Dumb (The 411), Is It You & Me And You (Cassie), Freak Like Me (Sugababes) and Break It Off (Rihanna & Sean Paul):

You can't deny they are some TUNES! On the agenda this week of chilled detox is a trip to Poole to check out the sexy Sunseekers (even though the firm is set to be bought out by China!) and a spot of Lunch, tomorrow I'll be spending a morning at the salon and Wednesday is shopping day - I'll keep you posted!

Don't forget...KEEP GOING!

Thrifty Thursday - Cleverly Customised Calenders

This week's post follows on from my ideas yesterday. It's all well and good having a delightful mood board but if you have nowhere to hang it, then you have a slight problem.

It's the 10th of January so we should all by now have our new calenders/filos/diaries on the go...so really this week's project shouldn't cost you a penny!

We look at our organisers every day and all we see are numbers and pages, but why should we stare drearily and count down the days until our next big thing? I'm going to customise my diary with images similar to those on my moodboard so I can be reminded of my goals and what in turn is going to make me happy this year!

That weekend away - the one that is going to be the first weekend away of the year and isn't until March:

(Excuse the terrible picture quality - blame my BlackBerry!)

That week before the super luxurious trip to the Caribbean - the one you've spent all year preparing for:

Inject a little fun back into your everyday lives. I used images from the Boots magazine I mentioned yesterday (only because I haven't had a chance to go and stock up on my glossies!) but you can also take your own pics to really pump some personality into your organiser!

These are some of my personal photos that could be used on my moodboard/in my organiser:

It can literally be anything that will help you see through the year happy and successful!
Give it a go, it's just a little bit of penny-pinchin' fun

xx

Get to your Goals!

That famous saying, 'New Year, New You' - it haunts every single one of us every year. It's all very well having aims and motivation for January but, there's 11 more months to go!

Boots Health & Beauty Magazine has an inspiring article in the current edition (on sale for £1.50 or free for Advantage Card holders!):
MOTIVATIONAL MOOD BOARDS

I looked at it for a split second and immediately started thinking about what would be on mine.
My main aims for this year are:

1) Feel and look fitter in time for my holiday in September

2) Discover my own sense of style and feel more comfortable in clothes again (goodbye leggings!)

3) Keep more up-to-date on the current affairs that don't involve celebrities (crime, health, politics, etc.)

What are yours??

They're pretty much the same every year and about the same time every year... I give up! Usually around end of January, beginning of February and my motivation has gone right out of the window.
Not this year!
I quicky created this one to give an idea of what I mean:

It's everything I'm aiming for but visually looks so much nicer than a boring old list!
I found some more awesome ones online - they're mainly for textile moodboards but they are really awesome:

It's a fun way to keep track of what you set out to achieve at the start of the year! Which leads me on to tomorrow's Thrifty Thursday post... Motivational Diaries - you don't need to go out and spend a fortune to get on track! Spend £1 on a diary and the rest is cut and stick!
x See you tomorrow x
